The Otter Guys

I photographed this group of North American River Otters a few years ago while kayaking Merchant’s Millpond.

I wore a ghillie suit that day to help camouflage myself. I’m not sure they ever made my disguise, but they probably did. They kept her eyes on me and made a series of sounds called “chuffing.”
